Fuel pricing is a significant concern in Kenya.

Besides the purchase price, fuel consumption influences customer car purchase decisions. This is understandable, considering that in recent years, we have seen fuel prices rise at an astonishing rate – with a liter of petrol that once cost Ksh.100, now retailing at up to Ksh.179, Unbelievable!

Buyers now favor affordable, compact, fuel-efficient hatchbacks (economy cars) over larger-than-life, fast, exciting, expensive, and sometimes ostentatious dream cars. To be honest, most Kenyans are giving up on the concept of a ‘dream car’. Even if we can afford one, we might not be able to fuel it for more than a weekend victory lap around our neighborhoods to showcase our success.

Driving a dream car daily? Forget it!

We don’t accept this status quo, so we researched popular dream cars you could import through CARS360. Your assumption may be that these options guzzle fuel like a corrupt politician, but are actually surprisingly gentle on our wallets at the pump.

Here is our list of five cars with astonishing fuel economy that will leave you surprised. The criteria for these cars was to have fuel efficiency slightly lower, similar to, or even better than a 1.3 L 3-cylinder petrol 2016 Honda Fit (Available at CARS360 for just Ksh.943,000), which is 14.1 km/L.

Here they are:

1.2016 Mercedes-Benz E300 Blue Efficiency

  • 3.5 L N/A V6 Petrol
  • 15 km/L
  • Ksh.4 – 5 million

2. 2017 Range Rover Evoque SE Si4

  • 2.0 L turbo Inline-4 Petrol
  • 13 km/L
  • Ksh.6.5 – 7.5 million

3. 2016 VW Golf GTI

  • 2.0 L turbo Inline-4 Petrol
  • 12.5 km/L
  • Ksh.3 – 3.5 million

4. 2016 Porsche Cayenne Base

  • 3.6 L N/A V6 Petrol
  • 11.2 km/L
  • Ksh.8 – 10 million

5. 2017 Subaru WRX STI Premium AWD

  • 2.5 L turbo Boxer-4 Petrol
  • 10.4 km/L
  • Ksh.5 – 6.5 million

As you can see, dreams can come true. You can work hard, earn your money, buy your own Mercedes-Benz, and yet use less fuel than a Honda Fit driving about.
It’s remarkable.
There were more cars we actually found out about, one being a V8 powered Range Rover that does 11.5 km/L. The list is endless; You can import ALL these via CARS360!
At the end, shoot for the stars. It turns out some of these stars are actually very cheap to fuel.
